Summer Virtual Writing Retreats
Do you need to dedicate time to a piece of academic writing? Would you like to experience a Writing Retreat without having to go anywhere?
We are running two Virtual Writing Retreats for staff and postgraduate researchers. Anyone who wishes to spend focused time on a specific piece of academic writing is welcome to apply for one of the retreats. You might be working on a book chapter, a journal article, a funding proposal, or a fellowship application. This can be at any stage of development.
The retreats will take place online, over 3 days, on the following dates:
- Retreat 1: Wednesday 30 June – Friday 2 July
- Retreat 2: Wednesday 14 – Friday 16 July
Each day will begin at 9.30am and end at 5pm, with the exception of day 3 (Friday) which will end at 1pm – you are free to continue writing that afternoon if you wish.
The days will be structured to allow protected writing time alongside breaks and time for reflection. Between writing sessions, participants and facilitators will meet up online to discuss progress using Zoom. There will also be time to share and explore strategies for writing productively.
The retreat will be hosted by Dr. Jenny Rivas Perez, who has been supporting academic writers at the University of Leeds for over a decade. If you have any questions, please contact Jenny at: [email protected].
To apply for a place please fill in the short application form. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 16 June, 11.45pm.
You will be advised of the outcome of your application by the close of business on Monday 21 June.
