LinkedIn Learning Guide for Staff

LinkedIn Learning offers staff at Leeds free access to over 21,000 expert-led courses in technology, business, and creative subjects. These video-based courses, usually an hour long and broken into short modules, help staff develop new skills for personal and professional growth. 

Logging into LinkedIn Learning is simple, and easy to access on the go. You can choose to learn from your desktop or use the LinkedIn Learning mobile app to study whenever it fits into your schedule. 

1. Visit LinkedIn Learning 
2. Enter your University of Leeds username and password 
3. Access the platform and start exploring the courses!

Add LinkedIn Learning as a favourite link on the Staff Intranet

If you'd like to be able to quickly access LinkedIn Learning, you can add it your favourite links on the Staff Intranet homepage. Details on editing your favourite links can be found in the University's 'Get to know your Intranet' guide.

Linking your LinkedIn profile to LinkedIn Learning allows you to showcase your completed courses, highlight new skills, and get personalised course recommendations.  

1. Log into LinkedIn Learning 
2. Navigate to ‘Settings’ and click ‘Connect my account’ 
3. Set a ‘Career Goal’ in the ‘My Career Journey’ to get a personalised learning plan and recommended content to help you develop skills relevant to your chosen career path 
4. Accept the terms, and your profile will reflect your learning achievements 

For tips on how to maximise LinkedIn Learning for professional development, you can sign up for the ‘Beginner’s Guide to LinkedIn Learning’ online session to explore the platform and its features. 

With such a large library of courses, finding the right one can be challenging. LinkedIn Learning’s Skill Evaluation feature helps by assessing your current knowledge in specific topics and recommending courses that match your skill level. There are currently 42 skills that you can take a skill evaluation for. Whether you're learning Microsoft Office, Python, leadership, or time management, Skill Evaluation ensures you get the content most relevant to your needs. 

To take a Skill Evaluation: 

1. Search for a skill in the LinkedIn Learning homepage 
2. Select ‘Guide your learning with Skill Evaluation’ 
3. Complete the assessment to receive personalised course recommendations 
4. Access all your Skill Evaluations in the ‘My Library’ section, where you can revisit and retake them anytime 

Becoming a LinkedIn Learning curator lets you drive learner engagement and take LinkedIn Learning to the next level for you, your colleagues and students.  

Staff can request curator access to: 

• Upload custom content to the platform 
• Create learning paths by combining LinkedIn Learning content with personal materials 
• Share resources with colleagues or students 
• Track insights for shared content within a group 

Join our LinkedIn Learning Interest Group  for staff on Microsoft Teams. The group meets every six weeks to discuss updates, ask questions, and learn from LinkedIn Learning experts.  

Staff can request LinkedIn Learning content to be mapped directly to a syllabus, framework, or set of topics. To use this service, email LinkedInLearn@leeds.ac.uk.
