This summer, OD&PL are providing a series of flexible, practical and future-focused leadership development programmes for colleagues.

The last 12 months have taught us many things about leadership. Compassion, agility and inclusivity have never been more relevant, and our programme reflects this unique period whilst having a strong focus on the future, underpinned by our key strategic pillars of Community, CultureImpact and Digital.

Creating a culture that is collaborative requires leadership, vision, strategic focus and courage. We need to be clear about the values of ethical behaviour, engendering trust, showing compassion for others and defining our goals in line with those values.

(Universal Values, Global Change. University of Leeds Strategy 2020 to 2030)

The four programmes are outlined on our leadership development programmes webpages and suitability for each programme is outlined on these pages. When we use the term ‘leadership’ we define it as being responsible, or partly responsible, for an area of activity, a project/initiative or a group of individuals. If your role involves influencing others to achieve common goals and shared expectations, then that would qualify as leadership. Being a leader, therefore, does not necessarily mean being a line manager.
