Dynamic Development

What happens when you get a group of people* together, experienced in the delivery of  Tony Bromleyprofessional development activity for researchers? You challenge them to come up with something better! ‘Dynamic Development’ was the answer in this case.

Tony Bromley, a University of Leeds Student Education Fellow, shares this new approach to researcher development.

Developing researchers

In characterising the current approach to the development of researchers, it is often seen as being a passive learning experience. The challenge therefore, became to develop an active approach to the development of researchers.

Dynamic Development is not just for researcher development!

Although the context from where this emerged was researcher development, the ideas are more broadly applicable to skills development and personal and professional development in general.

You may find you are able to use these ideas in your own practice, be it with undergraduates or staff. All the details of this new Dynamic Development approach are available on the Researcher Support website.

*The project was funded by a University of Leeds Student Education Fellowship (Development award). It brought together a development group from six universities in addition to Leeds and met for three ‘away-days’ over a period of 8 months.
