Technicians’ development

Technicians at Leeds

As part of our University’s strategy, we want to attract, retain and develop the very best people and teams. Our technician team has more than 400 technicians across each of our faculties.

At Leeds we are committed to the Science Council’s Employer Champion programme. This means we have agreed to champion the value of professional registration and ensure you have access to continuing professional development opportunities.  You can find out more about the range of development opportunities available to you below.

In addition to the Science Council’s Employer Champion programme, we have also signed up to the Technician Commitment:

The Technician Commitment is a university and research institution initiative, led by a steering group of sector bodies, with support from the Science Council and also the Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s Technicians ‘Make It Happen’ campaign. The Commitment consequently aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working across all disciplines in higher education and research . Furthermore, universities and research institutes are invited to become signatories of the Technician Commitment and pledge action on the key challenges faced by their technical staff.
