New staff

Welcome to the University of Leeds

We have a strong heritage and enduring reputation which aims to create, advance and disseminate knowledge, in addition to developing outstanding graduates and scholars to make a major impact upon global society. As a new colleague, you are part of a community that helps make this happen.

New colleagues – University Induction Events

Our University induction programme comprises two half-day events: a welcome from the Vice-Chancellor and Senior Leaders, and an Interactive Information Event with round table discussions and an information fair.

These have been specifically designed to help you orientate yourself in your new role and workplace. We look forward to meeting you.

Vice-Chancellor and Senior Leaders’ Welcome

Our Vice-Chancellor and Senior Leaders’ Welcome is an opportunity for all colleagues to hear from and engage with our executive leaders, and to gain an understanding of who we are, what we do, and where we are going. You will hear how our strategy and values drive our ambitious plans and how our colleagues will help us to achieve these goals.

The Vice Chancellor, Sir Alan Langlands, will open the event, and our Deputy Vice Chancellors and the University’s Chief Operating Officer will share with you their key focus areas. There will be Q&A sessions so please come with questions or queries you would like to put forward – this is actively encouraged!

There will be also be a networking activity to allow you to meet and talk with other new starters and discover more about the University.

Interactive Information Event

At our Interactive Information Event you will discover the benefits, support, and services that are available to you during your career with us, and learn about the diverse activities and key projects that are taking place across the campus. You will be able to visit information stalls, obtain advice from staff benefit representatives, take part in round-table discussions, listen to guest speakers about life at Leeds, and discover more about the community you have just joined.

This is an engaging and essential part of your University welcome, so please do join us.
